Day 7: Cutting back – on energy

We hate paying money to people, generally speaking.  But we especially hate it when big natural monopolies like gas and electric companies become a never ending necessity.

Anything that is plugged in uses energy, even when that thing is not being used.  Therefore, each outlet being used costs us a little more money each day.  In order to minimize this energy use and hopefully cut down our spending in the meantime, we have been turning our power strips off at nighttime, unplugging things that aren’t being used and being very conscious of our light usage.  We are also very conservative about using our heater.  The highest it ever goes is 69 degrees and we usually turn it off during the daytime hours.  Its little things like this that keep our bills reasonable and our cash flow content.
